Starting with his grade school days, drawing dinosaurs andanimals in notebook margins, Maury Aaseng has always been excited about drawingand art. After graduating with a BFA in graphic design from the University ofMinnesota—Duluth, he moved to San Diego to begin an illustration career. Hisfreelance work over the last eight years has spanned a variety of subjectmatter and illustration styles.
The range of Maury’s work has included anatomicalillustration and cartoons for medical textbooks, informative illustrations foryoung adult nonfiction, illustrated guides for out-patient care, customwatercolor work for independent authors, and logo design and creation. Thevariety has continued to fuel the creative spark that makes illustration workrewarding for him. In 2010, Maury’s artwork was featured in the Upstream PeopleGallery 7th Annual Color:Bold/Subtle Juried Online International Art Exhibition.
An avid nature enthusiast, Maury moved back to Duluth in 2009,where he supplements his illustration work with wildlife photography andpainting, hiking, skiing, and canoeing in the northern forests that borderCanada. Maury lives with his wife, who works as a graphic designer at theuniversity.
