Walter Foster Authors & Artists
Southern California oil painter Tom Swimm is known for his exceptional use of light and color. An artist whose life has been guided by many creative pursuits, Tom began painting at a very young age and developed his painting methods by experimenting with various techniques and by studying the great works of Van Gogh, Hopper, Gaugin, Cezanne, and Monet.
Born and raised on the East Coast, Tom had a successful career as an advertising and commercial artist in New York before resettling in California. Inspired by the light and landscape of Laguna Beach, Tom's passion for painting was renewed. To seek inspiration, Tom travels extensively, working from photos and sketches.
His work is included in many important private and corporate collections. He is also a published playwright and screenwriter. His stage plays have been produced in Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Seattle.
