Sketching and painting are two of our favorite things to do at Walter Foster. Lately, I've been dedicating myself to pencil practice: making sure I get some sketching time in each day. The pencil is one of the oldest tools in the artist's toolbox, and never before have artists had such an array of pencil styles and colors and mediums available to us.
Patterns are prevalent in our daily lives. Every polka dot, stripe, zig-zag, and squiggle adds its own character and quirkiness to the clothes we wear, the roads we travel, the billboards we see, and even the pets we own.
