Fashion Design Sketching

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is taking place in New York City this week, and it got me thinking about the art of fashion — not only the manufacturing of the actual clothing but also the countless sketches and design work that inevitably went into every piece.

I'm (clearly) not a fashion designer, but designing and sketching outfits can be a relaxing creative outlet. It can also be a way to pinpoint your personal style or pieces you aspire to add to your wardrobe.

"Fashion Design Workshop" by Stephanie Corfee is the perfect book for new and advanced fashion sketchers. This book gives instructions on drawing bodies, mannequins, hairstyles, fabrics, clothing and more. It gives you enough information to get started and then encourages you to go crazy from there.
