Drawing Comics: Smudge-Free Sketches

Drawing Comics: Smudge-Free Sketches

How to draw comics without eraser smudges

Comic book artists often use a non-photo blue pencil for rough sketches because it disappears when photocopied.

Step 1    Draw a rough sketch of the comic with a non-photo blue pencil.

Step 2    Trace over the sketch with a dark pencil or ink.

Step 3    Make a photocopy of the comic strip. The resulting image is free of any preliminary sketch marks.

For no smudge comics, use non-photo blue for sketches.
