Painting Glass in Acrylic and Oil 

Using Dark Backgrounds  
When painting complex forms 
like these, it’s best to use a dark 
background and a strong 
light source.

1. After applying an ultramarine wash and sketching in the scene, paint the
 background with ultramarine blue, burnt umber, and white. Use a similar
 mixture, adding crimson, to paint the bottle. Use burnt sienna for its neck 
and table, and use yellow ochre for reflections.
